The NAAFS Presents College ID Night for All Kent State Students
The NAAFS is Returning to Streetsboro for North Coast Showdown 5
College ID Night for All Kent State Students
(04/06/10 – Streetsboro, OH) – The NAAFS is returning to Streetsboro, OH on Saturday April 17th as The Arena plays host to North Coast Showdown 5. The stars of the National Amateur Series will be in action live, as the 2010 NAAFS Season makes a stop on Route 303 for a night of heart pounding NAAFS Cage Fighting, as seen on SportsTime Ohio and USTREAM.tv. This will also be College ID night at the fights, as all Kent State students who present a valid college ID will receive $10 off the price of admission at the door.
The main event will see the return of 2009 National Amateur Finalist Chase “Y U Do’em Like That?” Owens (4-2) as he takes on Zac Gobel (5-1) of Dragon’s Den WV in a Middleweight Division showdown. Owens arrived on the NAAFS radar in early 2009, putting together a series of impressive victories to earn a slot in the 2009 National Amateur Finals. On April 17th, he looks to begin a journey anew towards the 2010 finals and another opportunity at the elusive championship. Zac Gobel has made a name for himself in smaller events, amassing a 5-1 record, and is now looking to test his skills against the best that the NAAFS has to offer. He recently handed NAAFS veteran Corey Jones the first loss of his career and is looking to take out another top star in Chase Owens. Will Gobel be successful in his first foray inside the NAAFS cage or will it be the NAAFS Nation saying; “Y U Do’em Like That?”
The National Amateur Light Heavyweight Division has always been one of the most competitive weight classes in the NAAFS and the 2010 crop of talent promises to be no different. At North Coast Showdown 5, Jeff Hughes (4-1) of Instigator Fight Team will take on DMI’s Matt Garrettson (4-1) in one the featured fights. Meanwhile, Hughes’ Instigator teammate Terry Hughes (3-2) will be looking to make a run in the National Amateur Heavyweight Division when he squares off against Team Titan’s Travis Tackett (3-0), who is coming off an impressive KO victory at Midwest Combat Challenge 10. If history is any indicator, these fights promise to leave the fans on the edge of their seats with excitement.
Although filled with several familiar names, the crop of new NAAFS talent will be looking to come into bloom as well at North Coast Showdown 5. Rick Sandlin (3-0) of Triple Threat MMA puts his unbeaten record on the line against Brandon Conely (4-1) of Team Titan, where as Andrew Jordan (2-0) of Kick MMA takes on fellow unbeaten fighter Eric Decker (2-0) of Team Vanquish in Lightweight battle. Plus the return of Vincent Qurazzo, 2010 Knockout of the Year candidate Joe Goyette, unbeaten female fatale Shawna Brown, and the highly anticipated debut of Wadsworth wrestling standout Josh Kallai will all take place on Saturday April 17th when the Tim Lally Chevrolet, the United States Army, Bud Light, and Mr. John P. Lennon proudly present NAAFS North Coast Showdown 5 from The Arena in Streetsboro, OH.
Tickets for North Coast Showdown 5 start at just $25 and are on sale now by calling 330-280-8442 or by logging onto www.NAAFS.tv. Plus all Kent State Students will receive $10 off at the door with a valid college ID. The NAAFS: Accept No Imitations!

Chase “Y U Do ‘Em Like That” Owens will smash this imitator hands down. Chase has a huge fan base in Los Angeles and we support him 127%. I’m not saying this because he’s my cousin but he comes from a line of fighters. I’m a golden glove lightweight myself and i have faith and cinfidence in my cuzzo. Take no prisoners relative. Represent for 2010 like I know you will.

Owens is a bad mofo. I’d like to see him fight Rogers or Lozano when he turns pro.

Eric Decker will murder Jordan. Noel Evans is a dead man. Terry Smith has the edge. Jeff Hughes with another impressive win. Brett Gruber will be .500. Chase Owens wins easy.
