Gormley to face Miocic at CV9 in Canton – Updated Fight Card
3/31/11 (North Canton, OH): Two time UFC veteran Chase Gormley (7-1) has been added to the Caged Vengeance 9 fight card and will face Stipe Miocic (9-0) as part of the NAAFS 4-man pro series heavyweight tournament set to begin on April 16th in Canton, Ohio.
Gormley, who faced UFC standouts Brendan Shcaub at UFC Live on Versus and Stefan Struve at UFC 104, holds wins over former King of the Cage champions Jon Murphy and Eric Pele. Gormley will make the trip from Huntington Beach (CA) to replace the injured Mike Wessel who was originally scheduled to face Miocic.
Caged Vengeance 9 will also feature many of the sports premier fighters including Canton’s own Nick “The Savage” Duell (17-4-1) who will defend his NAAFS welterweight title against TUF and Bellator vet, Kevin Knabjian (9-5-1). Also slated to fight on April 16th is undefeated middleweight prospect Travis “The Terror” Clark (10-0) who makes his NAAFS debut against former title contender Mickey Hughes (8-6) along with Bellator star and former NAAFS middleweight champion Chris “The Assassin” Lozano (11-2) who returns to the NAAFS fresh of his main event stint on MTV just a few weeks ago.
The NAAFS womens series will also be on display April 16th when Canton native and top ranked female Rachel “The Rage” Dovidio (4-1) returns home to face Chandra Engel (6-4) and Ronda Gale (4-2) collides with Lylna Thao (6-4) in what promises to be an exciting night of action.

Get it right man…once again the NAAFS is trying to make Stipe Miocic look better than he is. Chase Gormley is not 7-1, but he is 7-3. He may be a UFC Vet, but he has been stopped in the first round of both fights, KO by Schaub and Tapout by Struve. Yet another tomato can for Stipe to run through and look dominant against. Why not find him an Undefeated opponent that has the same record or better? You can not test your skills against a mediocre opponent, but know where your skills are when you are actually tested.

i cant see too many fighters lining up to fight this guy. he killed everyone put in front of him so why hate? if you fought in the UFC, you fought in the ufc. we should be supporting the local fighters not hating on them.

@ C’mon -
Are you crazy? Are you one of Stipe’s beaten opponents? Who did you have in mind for NAAFS to get on short notice that has more BIG FIGHT experience than Gormley? Getting to the UFC and fighting multiple times in the UFC is a huge accomplishment whether those fights were won or lost so stop cutting everyone’s achievements down and go try to do something better.
Did you give up yet?

If the UFC or anyone for that matter thought Stipe was as impressive as everyone makes him out to be he would be fighting for someone better than NAAFS(Bellator/SF/UFC/KOC) Which im really not trying to knock NAAFS saying they arent a good org. maybe NAAFS actually pays Stipe some $$$$

Word on the street is that Stipe turned down offers from bellator and strike force to get 2 more fights in naafs and sign with the ufc. Why waste time signing with anyone but the ufc?

Gormley is not 7-1, he is 7-3. He lost both UFC matches in the first round – KO by Schaub and Submitted by Struve.
Why is the NAAFS trying to make Stipe’s competition look better than what they are?
There has to be another HWT out there that is undeafeated with the same record or better than Stipe???

I would just hate for Stipe to get signed to the UFC where he would face a quality opponent and turn out just like the rest of the guys in the NAAFS that get a shot at the UFC – and thats beaten and released from the UFC because the quality opponents that they beat in the NAAFS aren’t up to par with the talent pool in UFC, so when NAAFS fighters go into the UFC, they get pumbled like Dent, Hendrick, Petz, etc.
Gormely in my opinion is not a quality opponent for the likes of Stipe. Wouldnt everyone agree if we seen Stipe actually smash a quality opponent, that this discussion wouldnt be taking place.
